Position Summary

The Town of Milton’s Operations Department is currently accepting applications for the contract position of Seasonal Maintenance Operator – Parks. The Seasonal Maintenance Operator supports daily operational services within the division, reporting to the Supervisor, Parks, and ensures parks meet service levels while following all safety standards. This is a contract position; the successful candidate must be available to work until September 30, 2026, including shift work and weekends as required.Major Job Responsibilities

Perform outdoor grounds‑keeping duties such as mowing, trimming, garbage collection, litter pick‑up, ball diamond grooming and other maintenance tasks on parks, sports fields, open spaces, and boulevards. Operate equipment such as tractors and attachments, one‑ton dump trucks, truck and trailer, mini loaders, gators, and assorted small engines.Direct, guide and lead other staff assigned to work as part of the crew. Maintain parks and open spaces to a safe and tidy standard and manage time effectively to complete work plans. Represent the Town of Milton in a professional manner and prioritize customer service. Comply with all health and safety practices, standard operating guidelines and the Occupational Health&Safety Act. Perform all other duties in a professional manner as assigned in accordance with Department objectives. Education&Experience

Secondary School Diploma is required. Minimum one (1) year experience in municipal public works or parks and/or other relevant and/or equivalent experience. Possession of a Class“G” Ontario Driver’s license is required; a clean driving record is mandatory and a recent driver’s abstract dated within 30 days will be required if selected for an interview. Persons with 4 or more demerit points need not apply.Strong communication, interpersonal and customer service skills. Mechanical aptitude to operate relevant equipment. Must be able to work independently and as part of a team. Working knowledge of applicable legislation and regulations, i.e., Ontario Health&Safety Act (OHSA). Ability to use heavy tools and lift or move moderately heavy objects (up to 50lbs). Consistency in applying the standard workplace safety procedures. Preferred Qualifications

Post‑secondary education in parks or maintenance or related field and/or combination of relevant post‑secondary education and related experience. Valid Standard First Aid Certificate / CPR and WHMIS. Excellent verbal, written communication, interpersonal and customer service skills. Benefits&Compensation
