Junior Hydrogeologist (Moffat)

Overview We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Hydrogeologist to join our environmental research and consulting team. This entry-level position offers an excellent opportunity for recent graduates or early-career professionals passionate about hydrogeology, water resource management, and environmental science. The successful candidate will support ongoing projects by collecting and analyzing data, assisting with fieldwork, and contributing to the development of sustainable groundwater solutions. Candidates should possess strong technical skills, a keen interest in research, and the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic workplace. Responsibilities - Conduct field data collection related to groundwater levels, quality, and flow using appropriate sampling techniques and instrumentation. - Assist in the installation, maintenance, and monitoring of groundwater monitoring wells and other hydrogeological equipment. - Utilize GIS tools such as ArcGIS to map hydrogeological features and analyze spatial data. - Prepare detailed reports and visualizations using AutoCAD, MATLAB, Python, or similar software to interpret hydrogeological data. - Support research activities by reviewing existing literature, compiling datasets, and performing data analysis to identify trends or anomalies. - Collaborate with senior hydrogeologists on project planning, site assessments, and technical documentation. - Contribute to environmental impact assessments by integrating geological and hydrological data into comprehensive reports. - Maintain accurate records of field activities, data collected, and equipment used in compliance with project standards. Experience - Bachelor’s degree in Hydrogeology, Geology, Geological Engineering - Familiarity with GIS software such as ArcGIS or similar mapping tools is required; experience with AutoCAD is a plus. - Basic understanding of data analysis techniques and proficiency in programming languages like Python or MATLAB is preferred. - Knowledge of hydrogeological concepts including groundwater flow modeling, aquifer properties, and water quality analysis is advantageous. Experience with MODFLOW is advantageous. - Mechanical knowledge related to sampling equipment or construction experience can be beneficial for fieldwork tasks. - Strong research skills with an ability to interpret scientific literature and technical reports. - Excellent communication skills for preparing reports and collaborating within multidisciplinary teams.
