The Peter Guo-hua Fu School of Architecture, McGill University invites applications for 2 Course Lecturer positions for the Fall 2026 term. Calendar Description: Architecture: Comprehensive design investigation of interrelated architectural-engineering-landscape concepts and systems; development and application of design methods fit for the changing climates and conditions of this century. CACB SPC: ARCH 672 is primarily a Comprehensive Design studio (D1). However, it also addresses other Student Performance Criteria, as defined by the CACB (A1, A2, A3, A4, A6, A7, A8, B1, B3, B5, C2, C3, C4, C5). Topic and themes: Design a commercial building with a focus on circular economy and life cycle thinking in design. This is a comprehensive design (D1) studio hence, the student must demonstrate an ability to produce an architectural design (A7-A8) based on a concept (A1-A3, B1, B3), a building program (A4), and an urban site (A4, A6) which broadly integrates contextual factors, structural (C3) and environmental systems (B5, C2, C5), building envelopes and assemblies (A7A8, C4), regulatory requirements (A8, C5), and environmental stewardship (B1, C2, C5). Evaluable assessments of the studio work and the SPCs will take place via a mid-term module assignments and final review with invited critics. Teaching Qualification Requirements: M.Arch. or equivalent (first professional degree); Qualified practice and/or post-secondary teaching experience in architecture; Appropriate technical, environmental design, digital and/or critical, theoretical expertise for the course; active in the profession. Coordination: Please note that to better coordinate and manage student workload, instructors will be expected to work closely with colleagues and administration ahead of the semester to confirm scope, schedule, and assignments. Deadlines and tests will be finalized with the larger team and following conversations regarding resources and technical support. Please note: This studio will be team taught which means that multiple instructors will be assigned to teach this course. Instructors will work with multiple di/erent groups of students throughout the term. All candidates will work closely with the Director as well as the Studio Coordinator to ensure that their course material meets the University Calendar regulations, the pedagogical objectives of the School and the specific Canadian Architectural Certification Board Student Performance Criteria (CACB – SPC) for their specific course. Appointment is from August 31 to December 31, 2026. ARCH 672 / Architectural Design 1. 6 credits. Salary $17,800.
