Description
Overview JBS Equipment is a leader in the manufacturing of cutting-edge agricultural machinery, and a rapidly growing company based in Mission, BC . We are looking for an experienced Controller who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial setting and isn’t afraid to roll up their sleeves to help take us to the next level . The right candidate will have robust leadership capabilities to oversee our accounting operations in this pivotal role supporting the creation of new processes, systems and structures. Responsibilities - Oversee daily finance and accounting department operations. - Direct and coordinate financial planning, debt financing, budgeting, and forecasting with the executive team. - Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against budget and prepare detailed management reporting. - Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and supporting schedules. - Prepare financial analysis to support contract negotiations, product investment decisions, capital planning, and profitability improvement. - Direct internal and external audits, ensuring timely completion and implementing recommendations for procedural and control improvements. - Manage and monitor foreign currency trading and related risk exposure. - Oversee job costing, support profitability analysis, and provide recommendations on product selling costs. - Prepare compliance reports required by financial institutions and external stakeholders, ensuring timely submission. - Monitor and manage debt levels, banking relationships, and compliance with lending covenants. - Prepare all required documentation for the company’s annual SRED (Scientific Research & Experimental Development) claim. - Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements, including WCB, GST, PST, CRA, audits, and filings. - Direct and coordinate debt financing activities and debt service payments with lenders and external agencies. - Develop and implement strategic financial initiatives to support the company’s continued growth and scalability. - Build and strengthen the finance department through process improvement, system implementation, and team development. - Collaborate with the executive team to align departmental objectives with the organization’s broader strategic goals and support continued growth. - Optimize, enhance and implement financial processes, policies, and systems across the department and organization to strengthen operations and close existing gaps. - Provide leadership, coaching, and development to the finance team. Qualifications - CPA designation required. - Minimum 2+ years of controllership experience. - Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills. - QuickBooks Pro/Enterprise experience an asset. - Strong communication and leadership skills. - Manufacturing industry experience, an asset. - Strong strategic development and thinking skills. - Ability to build and implement scalable systems and processes to support the organization's objectives and continued growth.
