The Opportunity – Chemist - Colour R&D; We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Chemist to join the Colour R&D; team. In this role, you will support the development and optimization of colourant systems and pigment dispersions, contributing to innovative and commercially viable solutions You will apply your technical knowledge, problem-solving skills, and analytical abilities to assist in delivering high-quality products while collaborating with internal teams and supporting customer needs. The role will focus on the formulation, testing, and improvement of pigment dispersions and colourant systems for waterborne and solvent-borne applications. The role supports product development, manufacturing processes, and technical service activities while ensuring performance consistency and compliance with quality and environmental standards Primary Duties: Formulation & Development - Assist in the development and optimization of pigment dispersions and colourant formulations and related applications. - Conduct laboratory experiments to evaluate dispersions, stability, viscosity control, and colour performance. - Select and evaluate raw materials (dispersants, resins, additives) under guidance. - Record, analyze, and report experimental data accurately. Process & Scale-up - Support the transfer of laboratory formulations to pilot and production scale. - Assist in optimizing milling and dispersion processes (e.g., high-speed dispersers, basket mills). - Participate in troubleshooting formulation or production-related issues. Raw Material Evaluation & Cost Optimization - Evaluate new dispersants, resins, and additives from suppliers. - Support cost optimization initiatives while maintaining product performance. - Help maintain consistency in raw material usage and formulations. Technical support - Travel to customer sites to support trials and troubleshooting. - Support sales team during technical presentations and product approvals. - Prepare field visit reports and follow-up action plans. Compliance with the requirements of the Quality Management System and Environmental Management System – including but not limited to the following: - Take into consideration environmental aspects and impacts during the design of products and services. - Using appropriate control forms, work instructions and adhering to applicable SOPs. - Maintaining good record-keeping practices while adhering to quality and safety programs. - Ensure individuals are aware of all actual and potential health and safety hazards in their area of responsibility and that employees are advised of the existence of any potential or actual danger to their health or safety of which the supervisor is aware Qualifications - B.Sc./M.Sc. in Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering. - 2–5 years of experience in colourants, dispersions, coatings, inks, or related fields (or relevant internships/co-ops for entry-level candidates).
