OultonCollege is seeking a qualified professional with a Master’s degree inSociology, Social Science, or a closely related discipline to support ourBachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) program as a Course Developer and/orFaculty member for Sociology of Work . Thiscourse examines work in modern society, with particular focus on the nursingprofession and healthcare environments. It explores the historical evolution ofwork, the social organization of workplaces, labour market challenges, socialinequality, workplace structures, and the meaning and impact of work onindividuals and society. The course also examines how social and culturalvalues, technology, globalization, and health trends shape the experiences ofworkers and the nursing profession. The courseis scheduled for the Fall 2026 semester , offered over a 15-week term(3 hours per week of teaching). CourseDevelopment Responsibilities Thesuccessful candidate would support the development and organization of coursematerials and learning activities, including: - Developing course outlines,lesson plans, and instructional materials - Aligning course content withprogram learning outcomes and academic standards - Creating assignments, learningactivities, and evaluation tools - Incorporating currentsociological perspectives, workplace trends, and evidence-informed content - Collaborating with theacademic team to support curriculum quality and consistency FacultyResponsibilities Thesuccessful candidate would also support course delivery through: - Delivering engaging coursecontent through lectures - Facilitating student learningin areas including: - The structure andorganization of work and the nursing profession - The impact of social factorson workplace experiences and professional practice - Labour market dynamics,workforce shortages, and social inequality - The relationship betweenwork, family responsibilities, social values, and employer expectations - The influence of government,business, technology, and globalization on work and healthcareprofessions - Grading assignments, exams,and learning activities - Providing timely, constructivefeedback to students - Fostering an inclusive andengaging learning environment - Collaborating with faculty andprogram teams as required Requirements - Master’s degree in Sociology,Social Science, or a closely related field - Experience incurriculum/course development is considered an asset - Post-secondary teachingexperience is considered a strong asset - Strong understanding ofworkplace sociology, labour systems, and contemporary social issues - Excellent communication,organizational, and instructional skills - Ability to foster criticalthinking and meaningful discussion in a professional learning workplace - Scheduling flexibility, with opportunities to teach during daytime or evening hours - Part-time commitment designed to complement existing professional responsibilities - Opportunity to contribute to a growing degree program and support student success - Collaborative academic environment with engaged faculty and leadership - Potential for future contracts or other assignments Oulton College is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race or ethnicity, religion, sex, national origin, age, veteran disability or genetic information or any other reason prohibited by law in employment.
