Provide leadership and direction to the software development team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. Manage software development projects from inception to completion, including project planning, resource allocation, scheduling, and budgeting, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within scope. Provide technical oversight and guidance to the software development team, reviewing design specifications, code, and architecture, and ensuring adherence to best practices and coding standards. Collaborate with product management and engineering teams to define product requirements, features, and functionalities, translating business requirements into technical solutions and project plans. Ensure the quality and reliability of software products through the implementation of quality assurance processes and procedures, including code reviews, testing, and quality metrics tracking. Identify and mitigate project risks and issues, developing risk management plans and contingency strategies to minimize impact on project timelines and deliverables. Communicate project status, updates, and risks to stakeholders, including senior management, customers, and cross‑functional teams, ensuring alignment and transparency throughout the project lifecycle. Allocate and manage software development resources, including manpower, budget, and tools, to support project activities and meet project objectives and deadlines. Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to software development team members, identifying strengths, areas for improvement, and opportunities for growth and development. Drive continuous improvement initiatives in software development processes, tools, and methodologies, identifying opportunities for optimization and enhancement to increase efficiency and productivity. What do we need from you? Proven experience as a software engineering leader. Track record of building performing teams. Experience of defining successful technical strategies and best practices that improve execution and team capability. Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail. Excellent collaboration and communication skills. Previous embedded software experience working within complex system designs in an aviation, automotive or similar embedded systems development environment working to rigorous standards (e.g. RTCA DO-178B/C, DAL level A or B, or similar) would be a robust advantage.
