The responsibilities As a Piping Designer, your responsibilities include:
Developing and modifying 3D models based on P&ID’s, schematics, or vendor-supplied VFI.
Creating and revising fabrication drawings to align with project scope for structural and distribution systems.
Designing piping and equipment layouts to produce a well-organized and efficient 3D model.
Incorporating supports, spools, penetrations, and instrumentation into the design.
Ensuring that the 3D model complies with regulatory standards, classification rules (such as DNV, Lloyds/GL, etc.), design guidelines, and client-specific requirements.
Maintaining quality control for project deliverables in line with Genoa’s quality management system.
Taking on additional duties as required to support the Design&Consulting Team and organization.
About you
You have a technical diploma or degree in a relevant field (marine engineering, mechanical engineering or piping design) or a combination of education and experience.
Having previous experience in marine design is considered an asset.
You are familiar with regulatory bodies and classification societies, including direct interaction or compliance work.
You have hands‑on experience working with 3D product models for new ship construction and/or refit projects.
You are proficient in implementing design changes and producing general arrangement drawings, including tasks such as redlining, annotating, and drafting for shipbuilding projects.
You are familiar with AutoCAD and ShipConstructor.
Knowledge of AVEVA, Cadmatic, Foran, or other ship design software is an asset.
Having exposure to shipyard or production environments is a strong advantage.
You can accurately read and interpret technical specifications and engineering drawings.
You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
You have the proven ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines, and solve problems effectively in a dynamic project environment.
