Clinical Dietitian (Nanaimo)

Setting: Hospital & Outpatient Care Compensation: $60–$65/hour depending on experience Athena is currently seeking a licensed Clinical Dietitian for a short-term contract opportunity in Nanaimo, BC. This role will support a busy hospital and outpatient environment and is ideal for an experienced dietitian who is comfortable working in fast-paced clinical settings and collaborating within multidisciplinary care teams. The Clinical Dietitian is responsible for providing overall nutrition care to patients, ensuring nutritional needs are appropriately assessed, monitored, documented, and supported in accordance with professional standards and site requirements. Key Responsibilities - Assess, develop, and implement individualized nutrition care plans for patients - Monitor patient nutritional status and maintain accurate and complete documentation - Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to support quality patient care - Provide nutrition education and support to patients and families where appropriate - Ensure compliance with clinical standards, policies, and regulatory requirements - Support nutrition care activities across hospital and outpatient settings Qualifications & Requirements - Licensed Clinical Dietitian in good standing with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC) - Minimum 2 years of clinical dietitian experience required - Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with coursework approved by the appropriate nutrition and dietetics governing bodies - Eligible and authorized to practice dietetics in British Columbia - Maintain all required certifications, registrations, continuing education, and professional credentials Schedule & Work Environment - Currently requiring onsite coverage on Mondays and Tuesdays (2 days per week) - Start and end times can be discussed based on availability and operational needs - Experience working in busy hospital and outpatient environments is required - Work environments may include patient rooms, hospital floors, kitchens, and serving areas Conditions of Employment Candidates must have or be willing to complete the following prior to placement: - Criminal Record Check - Vulnerable Sector Search (VSS) - TB screening with documentation provided to the site - COVID-19 vaccination documentation This is a fixed-term contract opportunity with an immediate need.
