Marine Store Retail Staff (Nanaimo)

Our Marine Store sales team at Stones Boatyard in Nanaimo are key people in our business and often the first point contact with our customers. We sell all the boat parts and equipment a boater might need to enjoy his or her time on the water. We are looking for an outgoing, friendly personality, who is willing to engage with our boating community. You will be responsible for helping customers, in person, and over the phone and make sure they have a great experience, whether they stop in for a small item or are seeking assistance to make a larger purchase. Job includes 1. Selling boat and marine engine, parts, and equipment. 2. Ensure shelves are kept well stocked, well labelled and store is kept clean and tidy. 3. Maintain showroom appearance as well as participating in layout change and updates. 4. Effectively communicate product features, benefits, and warranty policy information to customers. 5. Schedule customer appointment for haul outs and service work in our busy boatyard and assisting customers on boating-related subjects. Requirements 1. Retail experience imperative, marine/boating knowledge an advantage, but the right attitude to learn about the products we sell is most important. 2. Computer skills necessary to operate POS/inventory management software – task specific training will be provided. 3. Able to multitask. 4. Integrity and accuracy required for cash handling, inventory control and computer systems. 5. Functional literacy and capability of recognizing part numbers and line codes to ensure the proper selection of parts. 6. Previous experience with parts sourcing and purchasing will be useful. 7. Boating/fishing experience not necessary but an asset. 8. Must demonstrate self-initiative, and the ability to work unsupervised. 9. Available for shifts 7 days per week between the hours of 0830-1700 if needed. 10. Ability to stand for up to 8 hours per shift. 11. Ability to view computer screen for up to 8 hours per shift. 12. Capable of lifting and moving merchandise up to and including 40lbs. 13. Excellent verbal communication and effective listening skills.
