Geriatric Psychiatrist Role in Victoria (Nanaimo)

Join the Division of Geriatric Psychiatry as a part time psychiatrist in Victoria, contributing to a multidisciplinary team. This role emphasizes leadership and patient-centered care across various settings. As part of the GEM program, you will engage in providing consultations for diverse patient needs in Nanaimo and surrounding areas. The position involves working with primary care physicians, teaching, and developing integral services within the Island-wide Dementia Strategy. You will also assist remote communities through specialized consultations, improving access and care for unique populations, including First Nations. Key Responsibilities: - Provide expert consultations in inpatient, outpatient, and residential settings - Collaborate with the GEM team for geriatric psychiatric care - Teach and mentor students in the Island Medical Program - Participate in the NRGH General Psychiatry call rotation - Contribute to program development and the MINT clinic initiative Requirements: - Current license from CPSBC and CMPA coverage - Fellowship from the Royal College of Physicians of Canada - Mandatory membership with the Canadian Association of Geriatric Psychiatry - Experience in leading psychiatric services - Strong commitment to community and educational engagement Make an impactful contribution to senior mental health services while expanding your professional network.
