Food Service Prep Cook Position, Nanaimo

Vancouver Island University is looking for a skilled Prep Cook to support food service in the cafeteria and catering operations. This role requires proficiency in food preparation and quality control.

In this position, you’ll be essential to the culinary team, preparing a variety of dishes, including salads and baked goods, while ensuring that customer service remains a priority. You will work independently, uphold cleanliness standards, and manage inventory effectively under the Kitchen Supervisor's direction. Your dedication to service excellence will support VIU’s commitment to quality.

Key Responsibilities:• Prepare meals as per kitchen standards for service • Interact with customers while portioning food • Keep work areas clean and organized • Keep track of inventory and rotate stock • Report customer feedback to the Kitchen Supervisor

Requirements:• Grade 12 plus Culinary Arts certification or equivalent • Minimum one year experience in food service • FoodSafe certification needed • Excellent organizational and communication skills • Proven ability to work under pressure
