Homelessness Support Outreach Specialist, Nanaimo

Transform lives as a Homelessness Outreach Worker, dedicated to supporting vulnerable individuals. Engage and assist them in accessing housing and related resources within the community.

This challenging role involves collaborating with various shelters and service agencies to foster a coordinated response to homelessness. Reporting to the Coordinated Access and Assessment Manager, you'll provide rapid support for individuals sheltering outdoors. Your role will be central to a multidisciplinary team focused on minimizing encampments and helping people transition to stable housing solutions.

Key Responsibilities:• Engage with people experiencing or at risk of homelessness • Facilitate access to various support services • Work with shelters and housing service providers • Address crisis situations with de-escalation techniques • Support encampment resolution and prevention efforts

Requirements:• High School diploma and relevant post-secondary courses • Experience with crisis management and homelessness issues • In-depth understanding of addiction and mental illness • Knowledge of community resources and services • Valid driver's license and vehicle access for travel
