Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT)– Central Island Veterinary Emergency Hospital Location: 6550 Metral Drive, Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada

About the Role We are seeking a dedicated Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) to join our Emergency team at our 24/7 veterinary hospital. The role is ideal for an RVT who enjoys emergency medicine or is emergency-curious, values teamwork, and seeks a workplace supporting learning, mentorship, and professional development. Emergency experience is an asset but not required; training and ongoing support are provided.

Compensation&Benefits

Hourly Wage: $35–$42/hour, commensurate with experience (shift premiums for overnight and weekend shifts, overtime pay as per BC Employment Standards)

Job Responsibilities

Triage and monitoring of emergency and critical patients

Anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery

IV catheter placement, blood collection, and in‑house laboratory testing

Assisting with emergency diagnostics, treatments, and surgical procedures

Accurate and timely medical record‑keeping

Compassionate and professional client communication

Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe emergency department

Familiar with Cornerstone Whiteboard is an asset, but not required

Qualifications

Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) in good standing with the BCVTA

Strong technical and organizational skills

Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure

Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
