Safety Officer – Live Fire Training (Mobile Burn Unit) RelyOn Canada Location: Dartmouth, NS Vacancies: One (1) Employment Type: Full Time RelyOn Canada is an ISO registered service-based company focused on exceeding our clients' requirements, on time, the first time. We provide safety and survival training to the onshore, offshore Oil & Gas industry, industrial, maritime sectors, civilian and military aviation. We are accepting applications for a full time Safety Officer – Live Fire Training position. The Safety Officer is solely responsible for identifying, preventing, and correcting unsafe acts or conditions during all mobile burn unit live‑fire evolutions. This role is mandatory for every live‑fire exercise. We are looking for individuals who are able to operate in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment; will effectively integrate into a team; and are respectful and professional with co-workers, management, and clients. Major duties - Monitors all training activities for safety compliance throughout the evolution - Has authority to stop or suspend training when unsafe conditions are observed - Ensures compliance with PPE, accountability, air management, and rehabilitation requirements - Confirms emergency medical services and rapid intervention resources are in place - Maintains constant situational awareness of participants, fire conditions, and environmental factors - Communicates directly with the Instructor‑in‑Charge and Ignition Officer - Must not be assigned any other operational or instructional duties during the evolution Qualifications & Experience - Trained in NFPA 1403 Live‑Fire Training Evolutions - Trained in NFPA 1041 Fire Service Instructor 1 - Fully familiar with the mobile burn unit’s safety systems, emergency shutoffs, alarms, and evacuation procedures - Ability to recognize fire behavior, heat conditions, and participant distress Reporting Relationship - Designated by the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) - Operates independently of instructional or ignition functions If you are interested in a very demanding yet rewarding career then we are interested in talking to you!
