The Roxbury Urban Dive Bar is seeking an experienced and energetic General Manager to lead daily operations and deliver an exceptional guest experience in one of Halifax’s fast-paced hospitality environments. The General Manager will oversee all front-of-house and back-of-house operations, manage staff performance, control costs, maintain service standards, and drive business growth through strong leadership and operational excellence. This role is ideal for a hospitality professional who thrives in high-volume environments, leads by example, and is passionate about nightlife, food service, and team culture. Key Responsibilities Oversee daily restaurant and bar operations to ensure smooth and efficient service Lead, coach, schedule, and develop front‑of‑house and management teams Recruit, hire, onboard, and train new employees Maintain high standards for guest service, cleanliness, and food & beverage quality Monitor labour costs, inventory, purchasing, and operating expensesManage cash handling procedures, POS systems, and nightly reporting Ensure compliance with Nova Scotia health, safety, liquor, and employment regulations Create and implement strategies to increase sales, profitability, and guest retention Handle guest concerns professionally and resolve issues quickly Collaborate with ownership and marketing teams on events, promotions, and nightlife programming Maintain vendor relationships and oversee ordering and inventory management Foster a positive, high‑performance workplace culture Qualifications 3–5+ years of restaurant, nightlife, or hospitality management experience Strong leadership, communication, and conflict‑resolution skills Experience managing high‑volume service environments Knowledge of budgeting, scheduling, inventory, and labour management Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and late‑night shifts Solid understanding of customer service and hospitality standards Experience with POS systems Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure Smart Serve / Responsible Beverage Service certification considered an asset Preferred Qualities Passion for Halifax nightlife and hospitality culture Strong team‑building and motivational skills Results‑driven mindset with strong attention to operational detail Comfortable leading both service and administrative functions Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary based on experience Staff discounts and dining perks Growth opportunities within hospitality management Flexible scheduling Schedule Full‑time Evenings, weekends, and holidays required Work Location In person — Halifax, Nova Scotia Job Details Job Types: Full‑time, Permanent.
