Learning & Development Specialist - Term For Approximately 12-Months Job Description. Requisition ID: 645 | Salary Range: $80,148 - $94,021 | Employment Type: Term | Department: People & Culture | Job Location: Support Centre | Closing date at 11:59pm on: Jun 5, 2026. The Opportunity The Learning & Development Specialist is responsible for the design, development and delivery of engaging and effective learning programs that support organizational culture, leadership capability, and employee performance. Working cross-functionally with many different teams in the organization, this role is responsible for equipping leaders and employees with the required knowledge, skills and tools to foster an inclusive, high-performing culture aligned to our Vision, Service Standards, and Leadership Framework. This is a Term opportunity, with an expected duration of 12 months. Reporting Structure Reporting to: Manager, Organizational Learning & Development Essential Responsibilities Design and develop learning programs that support education for self-leaders, leaders of people and leaders of leaders, using adult learning principles and best practices in instructional design Translate organizational priorities and policies, cultural initiatives and Leadership Competencies into clear, engaging, and learner-friendly content Create a variety of learning materials (e-learning, facilitator guides, toolkits, videos, job aids, etc) to support new knowledge/skills or to support change management Facilitate engaging training sessions (virtual and in-person) employees across the organization Support the design and delivery of leadership development programs (e.g., recent leaders, emerging leaders, and leaders of leaders) Partner with team members in People, Culture & Social Impact, Retail Operations, and other business to stay current on changes that may impact learning priorities Support performance development by creating tools and resources that enable effective goal setting, feedback, and coaching Participate in the planning and lead the execution of learning initiatives aligned with organizational priorities and strategic plans Maintain and continuously update learning content to ensure accuracy, relevance, and alignment with evolving business needs Evaluate training effectiveness using feedback, assessments, and performance metrics Equip leaders with practical tools and resources to build engaged, high-performing teams Support a culture of continuous learning, inclusion, and accountability across the organization Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of learning programs with business objectives and employee experience priorities Identify and gather knowledge from subject matter experts to be used in the development of learning programs Customize learning experiences to be inclusive and meet the needs of different audiences, including individual contributors, leaders and leaders of leaders Evaluate the effectiveness of learning initiatives through feedback, evaluations, and other assessment methods. Continuously improve content and delivery methods based on learner insights and organizational needs. Stay current on trends and best practices in leadership development, adult learning, and organizational development. Consult on selected individual skills needs assessments of employees and make recommendations regarding solutions to skills and knowledge gaps. Supports execution of organizational performance management through the annual performance management program Secondary Responsibilities Continuous self-directed learning related to best practice in the areas of organizational development, leadership and quality service Assist in the development and achievement of business unit and corporate business objectives; achieve individual objectives as assigned Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned; travel, primarily within the province as required Provide back-up support of the Learning Management System Qualifications As a qualified candidate, you will have: A relevant undergraduate degree 3-5 years’ of increasingly responsible experience in adult learning and employee development Experience using Learning Management Systems Experience in organizational and leadership development Exceptional facilitation and communication skills.
