Cognizant’s Digital Engineering practice is seeking a highly qualified Sr. Java Developer with 6+ years’ experience developing and building high‑performing, scalable, enterprise applications. As a Sr. Software Engineer B2, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and maintaining high‑quality software solutions. Location: Halifax, Canada (Hybrid). You must be legally authorized to work in Canada without the need for employer sponsorship now or at any time in the future. Roles/Responsibilities Develop and maintain high‑quality applications using Java, Spring Boot, and React to meet business requirements. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to design and deliver scalable, user‑focused solutions. Implement real‑time data processing using Kafka and ensure seamless system integration. Write clean, optimized, and responsive code using JavaScript, HTML, and CSS, while following best practices through code reviews. Troubleshoot technical issues, participate in Agile processes, and support continuous improvement through innovation and mentorship. Qualifications 6+ years of experience. Extensive hands‑on experience with Java and Spring Boot for building robust backend systems. Solid proficiency in React and JavaScript for developing dynamic, interactive front‑end applications. Proven experience with Kafka for real‑time data processing and system integration. Solid understanding of HTML and CSS, with the ability to design responsive and accessible web interfaces. Familiarity with Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban) is a plus. Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills, with the ability to address complex technical challenges. Experience with code optimization, debugging, and performance tuning. Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross‑functional teams. Ability to work effectively in a hybrid work environment. Salary and Benefits Canadian Pay Transparency Statement: The base salary for this position ranges between $69,750–110,500 per year. The successful candidate’s remuneration will depend on relevant education, work and/or management experience, and other business‑related and job‑necessary qualifications.
