Operational Support– Achieve Program Assistant (TS10) Location

Strait Area Campus, Port Hawkesbury, Nova Scotia Schedule

Full‑time, recurring. Commencing approximately January 2, 2026. Annual layoff period between June and late August. Salary

$46,690.30 to $54,832.37 annually (pro‑rated based on months worked). Responsibilities

The Achieve program uses a student‑directed model of delivery to further prepare students for life after high school and works with the principles of person‑directed planning to support student growth and self‑determination, wellness, employability and community engagement. Reporting to the Academic Chair, School of Access, Education and Language and as a member of the Achieve team, you will support the development of relationships and interdependence of Achieve students at home, work and in community. Learners in the Achieve Program take part in college life and experience hands‑on activities and workshops in this transition program. They are guided through a person‑centred process of developing personal goals and action plans for employment, independent living, and social networking. Classroom and campus experiences create a foundation for learning essential and employability skills. Applied learning experiences on campus and in the community provide job shadowing and work experience.Participate in planning sessions with the Achieve Program Coordinator and/or Employment Specialist Work one‑on‑one with students Lead small groups of students (on‑site mentorship in community and workplace settings) Participate in the planning and implementation of community outings Support the set up and maintenance of classroom environmentsFacilitate and lead small‑group sessions on topics such as cooking, budgeting, community involvement, self‑advocacy and safety You will work closely with employers, the business community and service providers, and provide support and guidance that enables Achieve students to obtain the knowledge, skills, and attitudesfor independent living.Qualifications

Relevant college diploma in social sciences or a related discipline. Minimum of two years (full‑time equivalent) of recent and related occupational experience supporting persons with intellectual disabilities and autism spectrum disorder. Demonstrated experience working with individuals with social and emotional issues and with employers to support young people with disabilities in developing life skills and transitioning to independent living.Experience supporting the facilitation of workshops or small groups is an asset. Experience supporting or providing services to post‑secondary students is an asset. Food handler’s certification and experience in supporting others to learn basic meal preparation is an asset. Knowledge of and comfort with computer applications such as Microsoft Office Suite, Office 365, e‑mail, assistive technology programs, iPad, and Smart Phones.Comfortable working in a digital environment; self‑motivated to acquire knowledge of advancing technology. Relevant Skills and Knowledge
