Respite Caregiver (Community-Based – Contract) (Surrey)

Key Responsibilities - Provide one-on-one support in community settings (e.g., outings, recreational activities). - Support social interactions and participation in meaningful, person-centered activities. - Assist the individual in achieving personal goals and developing life skills. - Encourage independence, confidence, and positive engagement in public environments. - Support medication administration, if applicable. - Ensure safety, dignity, and respectful care at all times. - Maintain professional communication with the individual, family, and team members. - Complete daily reports, progress notes, and required documentation. - Participate in team meetings and provide updates as needed. Skills & Requirements - Minimum 2 years of experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities (e.g., autism, ADHD). - Training in epilepsy awareness and seizure response is required. - Valid Driver’s License and access to a reliable personal vehicle (required for community support). - Current First Aid/CPR certification. - Transparent Criminal Record Check (including vulnerable sector). - MANDT or NCI (Nonviolent Crisis Intervention) certification (required). - Strong interpersonal, communication, and observation skills. - Ability to complete clear, objective, and professional reports. Additional Information - This is a contracted respite position. - Shifts are weekends only (4 hours per week). - Ideal for individuals seeking flexible, part-time community-based work.
