We have an exciting opportunity to join the role of a Paralegal/Senior Legal Assistant working in the litigation department at our downtown Vancouver office. The role is to provide key litigation support to one of our trial lawyers as their \"right hand\" support. We also provide fulsome support to the paralegal and their lawyer. We have support staff who open files, request records, schedule trials, schedule mediations, and schedule discoveries for your team so that you can focus your full efforts on litigation support. Your role will include the following: Main Tasks and Responsibilities: - Assisting counsel with trial and court preparations. - Overseeing staff who request records and schedule litigation events. - Preparing, editing, and proofreading correspondence. - Pre and post preparation for discoveries, mediations, and trials. - Reviewing and organizing medical briefs and arranging medical assessments. - Managing files with your lawyer through all stages of the legal process. - Drafting routine correspondence and memos. - Ensuring court filings are completed in an accurate and timely manner. - Other duties as assigned. Experience: - Experience working as a paralegal or senior legal assistant in litigation. - Personal injury experience. - A drive to win cases for deserving clients - An appreciation for the importance of personal injury work in helping victims and survivors and making the world a more just and safer place - Excellent time management and organizational skills and the ability to work independently. - Empathetic with an effective ability to build rapport with clients. - Excellent accuracy and the ability to exercise initiative and good judgement. - Flexible and adaptable to changing work demands, volumes and schedules based on the litigation schedule.
