About our client
Our client is a well-established industrial bulk handling organization with major operations in Vancouver, British Columbia. They are currently seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to support the maintenance team, production equipment, and facility infrastructure while helping drive reliability, safety, and operational efficiency across the site.About the position
Reporting into the site leadership team, the Maintenance Supervisor will be responsible for supporting and directing maintenance staff, production equipment, support equipment, and building infrastructure. This role will focus on improving equipment reliability, reducing downtime, supporting safe work practices, and helping drive maintenance best practices across the facility. The original client posting emphasizes accountability, reliability, efficiency, waste reduction, safety, CMMS use, preventive/predictive maintenance, and supervision of major equipment repairs and overhauls.Key Responsibilities
Provide supervisory support for maintenance activities related to plant equipment, production systems, building structure, and support equipment. Support the implementation and optimization of maintenance best practices, including preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, standard inspection programs, and inventory/parts management.Help reduce overall plant downtime by using available maintenance resources effectively and supporting equipment reliability targets. Coordinate and supervise major equipment repairs, rebuilds, overhauls, and shutdown-related maintenance work to ensure equipment is safe, reliable, and operational within scheduled requirements.Work collaboratively with production, operations, and supervisory teams to improve safety, quality, cost efficiency, waste reduction, and overall plant performance. Support the development of annual maintenance budgets and help ensure maintenance activities are completed within approved budget expectations.Ensure health, safety, and environmental practices are consistently followed within the maintenance department. Promote a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, reliability, and strong communication across the maintenance team. Required Qualifications
Red Seal Millwright or Mechanical trade certification, may consider a combination of work experience and other trades certification, engineering degrees, etc. Minimum of 5 to 7 years of maintenance management or supervisory experience in an industrial production facility; Forestry, Food, mining, concrete, etc.Experience in food manufacturing or a similar regulated production environment is strongly preferred. A combination of relevant trade certification and directly related maintenance leadership experience may be considered. Experience working with a structured CMMS system is preferred. Strong leadership, decision-making, interpersonal, organizational, motivational, and communication skills.Ability to coach, mentor, and lead a maintenance team in a rapid-paced production environment. Strong sense of accountability, integrity, and professionalism. Ability to manage multiple priorities, respond to changing operational needs, and perform effectively under pressure. Proficiency in spoken and written English.Assets
Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, or reliability improvement programs. Knowledge of systems such as Maximo, Navision, SharePoint, and Microsoft Office. Experience supporting maintenance budgeting, equipment reliability targets, downtime reduction, and maintenance planning.Experience in Bulk Handling equipment
