Students will acquire breadth of knowledge and develop the necessary habits concerning safety, time and materials management, and hand tools and power tools. Various practical projects are performed in a shop environment to enhance students’ skills in lay-out, assembly, installation, testing, troubleshooting and repairing electrical wiring, fixtures, control devices and related equipment in buildings and other structures. POSITION OVERVIEW: The Faculty of Trades and Technology is currently seeking a Non-regular Type 1 Electrical Instructor to provide short-term delivery of Apprenticeship Levels 1, 2, 3, and 4 and Electrical Foundation Level courses which may extend from a single day to several weeks, possibly leading to a regularized contract. More information concerning the working conditions for a faculty member are outlined in Article 12 of the Kwantlen Faculty Association (KFA) Collective Agreement QUALIFICATIONS: - BC Construction Electrician Certificate of Qualification (CofQ) with Interprovincial Red Seal Endorsement (IP RSE), or a Certificate of Qualification with Interprovincial Red Seal (IP RSE) from another jurisdiction, or a BC Industrial Electrician Certificate of Qualification (CofQ) with Interprovincial Red Seal Endorsement (IP RSE), or a Certificate of Qualification with Interprovincial Red Seal (IP RSE) from another jurisdiction. APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS: - Candidates will be required to present a demonstration lesson. - Candidates will be required to undergo a Criminal Record Check. - SALARY INFORMATION: Placement on the salary scale will be dependent on level of education and relevant teaching experience. Advancement up the pay scale is based on FTE and employment status.
