Radiological Technologist - Peace Arch Hospital Salary: CAD $36.69 - $45.81 / hour Job Summary We are hiring for a Casual Radiological Technologist at Peace Arch Hospital. Responsibilities Perform all general duty radiographic/fluoroscopic procedures consistent with established standards, procedures, radiation protection practices and protocols. Run requested examinations, observing departmental standards, routines and radiation protection practices while operating radiographic and computerized imaging equipment. Complete procedures using appropriate equipment, label permanent records, maintain and update records in RIS/PACS and check resultant images for technical quality. Explain procedures and give instructions to patients/clients; answer questions that may arise. Ensure relevant clinical data is collected for the procedures requested, providing documentation of individualized patient care and recording history and clinical information. Prepare contrast agents required for examinations, such as filling syringes and mixing barium solutions; prepare tray set‑up for procedures, dispose items after the procedure according to hospital policy and clean instruments for return to the Medical Device Reprocessing Department. Monitor patient care and safety by ensuring procedures adhere to department standards and policies. Provide input into quality improvement and risk management procedures and processes. Clean and test equipment for status of imaging, viewing, processing and image recording; perform quality control tests and minor adjustments and/or arrange for necessary repairs; clean the technical area and maintain supplies. Perform a variety of clerical duties related to patient demographics, histories and data entry. Assist with departmental orientations, in‑service presentations, demonstrating procedures and answering questions as part of employee and student instruction. Participate in approved research and special projects in collaboration with supervisor and other health care professionals. Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement / LEAN programs by using established monitoring and auditing methodologies to perform quality assurance checks such as patient/physician satisfaction or booking protocols. Carry out responsibilities in accordance with health and safety requirements; immediately report unsafe situations by notifying supervisor or appropriate personnel. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Certification with the CAMRT. Demonstrated knowledge and practice of protected work procedures with diagnostic radiographic and medical imaging equipment. Demonstrated ability to perform radiographic examinations in compliance with departmental standards. Demonstrated knowledge of evidence‑based practice related to designated modality. Demonstrated knowledge of organization policies, procedures and standards of care, including practice of safe work procedures with modality equipment. Demonstrated knowledge of research process and methodology. Demonstrated knowledge of PACS/Radiology Information Systems, i.e., digital imaging, image archiving and retrieval. Demonstrated ability to communicate (orally and in writing) and deal effectively with clients and their families, co‑workers, physicians, other health care staff and staff of external agencies. Demonstrated ability to operate related equipment. Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with others. Demonstrated ability to establish workload priorities in collaboration with others. Demonstrated ability in CPR techniques. Demonstrated computer skills, including effective use of a computerized client care information system.
