Salary The salary range for this position is CAD $41.42 - $59.52 per hour. Job Summary We are currently hiring for a Relief Part Time Registered Nurse, Surgical Services - Operating Room to join our Surgical Services team at Peace Arch Hospital located in White Rock, B.C. This position is available until approximately October 2027 or until the return of the incumbent. Benefits Earn up to four weeks of vacation in your first year. Detailed Overview In accordance with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) standards of practice and the Mission and Values of Fraser Health, the Registered Nurse (RN), O.R. provides direct nursing care to patients within the Operating Room (OR) according to established standards and administrative policies and procedures. The RN assesses patients' physical and psycho‑social needs, identifies problems, plans, implements, documents, evaluates and coordinates nursing care, and performs scrubbing and circulating duties. Responsibilities Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates nursing care of patients. Receives and admits patients to the OR and coordinates nursing care according to physician and anaesthetist orders. Participates in identifying and reducing risk factors that may impact patient or team safety. Modifies care as needs change and initiates immediate treatment when required. Obtains, checks, sets up and positions supplies, instruments and equipment required for surgery. Follows standardized count policy and provides appropriate documentation. Performs scrub and circulation duties in the OR according to prescribed procedures. Collects information from various sources to enable appropriate nursing care. Participates in quality improvement activities and research. Participates as an active member on nursing and hospital committees and councils. Participates in orientation and ongoing education of nursing staff and students. Participates in the evaluation of patient care programs, techniques and procedures. Maintains a protected environment for patients, families and staff. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Education and Experience Graduation from an approved School of Nursing; current registered as a Registered Nurse with the BCCNM. One (1) year's recent relevant clinical nursing experience in the designated clinical area, and completion of post‑graduate coursework and/or certification applicable, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Skills and Abilities Clinical proficiency in the designated clinical area. Ability to complete initial and ongoing patient assessment and provide nursing care through appropriate interventions. Ability to determine and deal with emergency situations. Ability to recognize acuity changes. Ability to use evidence‑based information to support nursing decisions. Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, the public, medical staff and the interprofessional team. Ability to promote person‑centered care and patient advocacy. Ability to integrate and evaluate data from multiple sources to problem‑solve effectively. Ability to organize and prioritize work. Ability to collaborate with and promote cooperation among the interprofessional team. Ability to operate related equipment and relevant computer applications. Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
