Maintenance Lead - Mars Wrigley - Newmarket, ON

Job Description Our Mars Wrigley plant is seeking a Maintenance Lead — an accomplished leader with over 15 years of experience in manufacturing environments, including more than 3 years managing maintenance teams and 10 years in hands‑on technical roles. As a key member of the extended Site Leadership Team, this position is also accountable for building positive and strategic working relationships with operations on a day‑to‑day basis, supporting a longer‑term reliability strategy that improves overall operation at the local plant, and driving the standardization of network and regional best practices. This is a day‑based role; direct reports cover a 4‑shift 24/7 rotation and require escalation management as needed outside standard working hours. What are we looking for? - Managerial / leadership experience with proven results in driving team performance and operational excellence. - Strong and demonstrated technical aptitude within a manufacturing setting. - Minimum of 3 years’ experience managing maintenance teams, with 10+ years of hands‑on technical experience in production settings. - Required competencies include the ability to engage and motivate teams, develop employees, and maintain a results‑oriented focus. - Experience in a maintenance‑oriented technical role, overseeing equipment reliability and process optimization. - Responsible for managing a team of 15 direct reports. - Background in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, or qualifications as a Millwright or licensed Electrical Maintenance professional. - Utility Maintenance, Stationary Engineering and PLC programming experience are considered an asset. What will be your key responsibilities? - Directly manage all aspects of a team of shift‑based mechanics and electricians, and collaborate with maintenance leaders and other support staff. - Organize and lead reactive, corrective, and preventative maintenance of factory equipment. - Responsible for all aspects of safety and food safety for plant maintenance activities. - Manage maintenance‑related escalations from various functions to maintain a high level of customer service (Operations, Safety, Quality). - Work closely with the broader team to ensure plant PM activities are in good standing. - Lead MSE activities in the factory and with central teams – ownership of the maintenance cost essential element within the PM pillar. - Drive loss elimination in support of optimizing production line efficiencies using data from site CMMS and data collection systems. - Support daily management of third‑party facility maintenance team. - Develop the skills and knowledge of the technical team in accordance with the needs of the factory. - Develop and manage ways of working with key stakeholders. - Lead maintenance projects and activities (safety/food safety/efficiency) aimed at continuous development and improvement of the factory.
