Job Description Location: North Bay, ON or Sudbury, ON Hybrid Work Schedule: Remote Option: Monday & Friday / In-Office: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday Job Type: Full Time, Permanent, 40hrs/Week Reports To: Lead Mechanical Engineer Posted: April 7, 2026 Salary Range: $95,000 to $115,000 General Purpose of This Job We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and delivery of mechanical systems for mining industrial projects. This role plays a key part in developing safe, practical, and high‑quality engineering solutions while mentoring junior engineers and collaborating across disciplines. Health & Safety - Work in compliance with all Cementation Health and Safety rules and regulations - Identify health and safety hazards or infractions and report them to the Health and Safety Department. - Ensure all applicable safety codes and regulations are met through appropriate design and use of technology. - Act as a safety champion by promoting safe behaviours and integrating safety into all designs produced by the group General Responsibilities - Lead and deliver mechanical designs for mining construction projects from concept through construction - Develop engineering solutions that meet regulatory requirements, safety standards, and client operational needs - Perform and review engineering calculations, equipment selection, and system layouts - Conduct and participate in technical and drawing design reviews - Provide technical direction, mentorship, and review of work completed by Engineers‑in‑Training - Support project execution through procurement, vendor evaluation, fabrication, and construction phases - Work closely with project management, operations, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver practical, constructible, and cost‑effective engineering solutions - Supported proposal preparation and technical scope development - This description reflects the core responsibilities of the role; additional duties may be assigned as required by project or business needs. Travel Requirements - This position has the requirement for occasional travel to our project sites and offices. Supervisory Responsibilities - None Education and Experience - Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering - Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Canada - 6+ years of mechanical engineering experience in mining, heavy industrial, or similar environments - Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, with experience in one or more of the following areas: material handling, HVAC, ventilation, piping, pumping, pneumatics, hydraulics, rigging, and hoisting - Proven ability to lead technical work and mentor junior engineers Skills, Knowledge & Abilities - Experience across multiple stages of the project and engineering lifecycle, including studies, pre‑feasibility and feasibility, basic engineering, issued‑for‑construction (IFC), procurement, fabrication, installation, and commissioning - Exposure to site work, construction support, and field engineering activities - Experience using 3D mechanical design and engineering analysis software Diversity and Inclusion We believe in diversity and inclusion.
