Heavy Equipment/Waste Operator (Parry Sound)

Job Summary We are seeking a skilled Equipment Operator to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating heavy machinery including dozers, loaders, backhoes, excavators, graders, and winter snowplow and sanders. This role requires mechanical knowledge and experience with various types of construction equipment to support municipal operations. The Equipment Operator will play a vital role in ensuring municipal roadways are maintained while maintaining safety standards and operational excellence. Responsibilities - Operate heavy construction equipment such as dozers, loaders, backhoes, excavators, graders, and snowplow with precision and safety. - Assist with waste site cleanup. - Roadside tree removal, cold patching, sign repair and installation - Perform routine inspections and maintenance on equipment. - Utilize mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot minor equipment issues and coordinate repairs when necessary. - Follow all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe work workplace for yourself and team members. - Collaborate with other team members to meet deadlines and specifications. - Maintain accurate records of equipment usage, inspections, and maintenance activities. Qualifications - Proven experience operating heavy equipment. - Mechanical knowledge related to heavy machinery maintenance and troubleshooting. - Valid commercial driver’s license (DZ) preferred or required. - Strong understanding of safety standards related to heavy equipment operation in municipal environments. - Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions. - This position offers an opportunity to develop technical skills in heavy machinery operation within a dynamic environment while contributing to impactful projects across the community.
