Role Summary: We’re seeking positive team members to serve our community! This is an excellent opportunity for someone who’d like to join a company on the rise. The ideal candidate for this role is outgoing, motivated, and able to work in a fast-paced environment. This role requires standing, counting and ordering inventory, lifting 20-30 lbs cases of alcohol and or convenience items, interacting with customers, working with our POS system, and managing co-workers. Retail management experience is required; if you have a great attitude and welcome new challenges, then we’d love to welcome you to the General Stores team. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES The Assistant Manager will be required to carry out the following duties within the store. - Ensure all staff are following Company Policies & Procedures; - Delegate tasks to team members - Follow up to ensure the team has completed the required tasks for their shift. - Daily paperwork; - Execution and team follow-up of promotions; - Ordering; - Inventory Control; - Waste Control; - Finding other staff members to cover shifts in the event of sickness or other absence; - Assist Store Manager in growing sales; - Maintenance calls as approved by the Store Manager - Listen and respond to customer complaints (escalating complaint to Store Manager if necessary); - Training new & existing employees; - Other duties are directed. ORGANISATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS ∙ Reports to Store Manager INTERPERSONAL SKILLS ∙ Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing ∙ Ability to maintain composure under pressure ACCOUNTABLITY ∙ Ability to work independently and exercise initiative ∙ Ability to follow directions and complete assigned tasks in a timely manner Essential Skills ∙ Good oral and written communication skills ∙ Demonstrate ability to work within a team environment ∙ Demonstrate ability to provide exceptional customer service ∙ Demonstrate ability to work on till with minor or no cash outages ∙ Demonstrate ability to complete daily and till paperwork ∙ Demonstrate ability to delegate and lead one to ten people at a time Requirements: - Must have excellent communication skills - you will be required to interact with clients in a professional and engaging manner - Must be 19 years of age - Must be able to lift 30lbs - Must have, or obtain, Serving It Right certification by job start date - Available to work on evenings and weekends - The ideal candidate has 2+ years in a retail store management position - Must be able to legally work in Canada Hours of Work – able to work a flexible schedule at a minimum of 37.5 hours a week. The Assistant Manager’s schedule will typically be evenings and weekends; they will work around the manager’s schedule.
