Summer Student – Food Bank and Lunch Program SupportJob Overview The Cowichan Valley Basket Society is seeking a Summer Student to support our Food Bank and Lunch Programs. This position offers a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a non-profit, community-focused setting while helping provide food, care, and respectful service to individuals and families in need. The Summer Student will assist with daily program operations, food distribution, food recovery, lunch service, organization, and basic administrative tasks. Duties - Assist with organizing, sorting, and distributing food items - Support hamper, food bank, and lunch program activities - Help with inventory, restocking shelves, and organizing food supplies - Assist with maintaining a clean, safe, and organized facility - Provide friendly, respectful, and non-judgmental service to guests - Support staff and volunteers with daily tasks as needed - Assist with basic data entry, records, and program documentation - Work alongside staff and volunteers to support individuals and families accessing CVBS services Qualifications - Strong interpersonal and communication skills - A respectful and compassionate approach to working with people - Ability to work well as part of a team - Willingness to learn and take on a variety of tasks - Reliable, organized, and able to follow direction - Interest in non-profit work, food security, or community service Position Summary This summer position provides meaningful experience in a community-based organization that supports individuals and families experiencing food insecurity.
