Support Indigenous language preservation as a full-time Hulq’umi’num' Language Nest Instructor Apprentice at Stz'uminus First Nation. Engage with students through culturally grounded teaching practices.

As part of the Stz'uminus Education Society's dedicated team, you'll work in a permanent role to teach the Hul'q'umi'num' language to students in a nurturing environment. Your focus will be on delivering culturally relevant lessons and integrating various traditional practices to inspire fluency and cultural connection. Collaboration with Elders and knowledgeable community members will enhance your teaching and strengthen language revitalization.

Key Responsibilities:• Teach Hul'q'umi'num' in an immersive setting • Develop relevant and engaging lesson plans • Incorporate storytelling and cultural practices into instruction • Assess and support student learning journeys • Work alongside community and educational stakeholders

Requirements:• Course completion in Indigenous Education or similar • High proficiency in Hul'q'umi'num' preferred • Experience working with youth in educational contexts • Knowledge of Indigenous ways of teaching • Ability to clear a Criminal Records Check
