Woodfibre Management Ltd. is seeking a full‑time, permanent Senior Process Engineer to join the Woodfibre LNG Project. Woodfibre Management Ltd. is a privately held Canadian company based in Vancouver and a subsidiary of Pacific Energy Corporation Limited.
Project The Woodfibre LNG Project is located approximately 7 km west‑southwest of Squamish, British Columbia. It includes the construction and operation of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) export facility on the former Woodfibre pulp mill site, which will have a storage capacity of 250 000 m³ and will produce approximately 2.1 million tons per yearof LNG. The position will require occasional travel to the EPC contractor’s office in Houston, Texas, USA. The work location will be based in both Vancouver (Unit 900‑1185 W Georgia Street) and Squamish, B.C. (38136 Cleveland Avenue).
Position The Senior Process Engineer is an integral part of Woodfibre LNG’s operations team. The Senior Process Engineer will work with a small team of multi‑discipline engineers, supporting the plant Operations group through construction, commissioning, start‑up and steady state, ensuring safe, reliable and sustainable production, and meeting our offtaker’s requirements. The successful candidate reports directly to the Engineering Manager and will play an essential part in supporting the company’s operations team, project management team and external stakeholders through the construction and operating phases of the project.
Key Responsibilities
Provide leadership to a process support team, on Process Engineering, Process Control, Production Planning and Laboratory Services
Support the start‑up of the plant, working with the plant Operations group in optimizing the commissioning and start‑up schedule
Manage Production Planning and Forecasting and provide support to the Marketing function
Manage the plant feed gas demand and interface with the pipeline operator, Fortis BC
Prepare for, manage and report on process unit and equipment performance test runs
Monitor and report on the performance of the plant process units and utility systems on a daily, weekly and monthly basis, with the objective to continuously improve process safety, reliability and efficiency
Support maximization of plant capacity through process simulation, calculations and reporting
Lead and implement all process safety requirements
Manage a system for plant trip investigation/reporting and reliability improvement
Continuously improve plant performance through initiation and follow through on Management of Change
Lead the HAZOP and other process safety reviews where required
Provide day‑to‑day support for operations on production issues
Analyze and report on plant and equipment performance for cost&efficiency improvement
Manage the plant laboratory and external laboratory service contractor, providing quality assurance for the LNG product
Provide adequate performance measurement and feedback for process support team members
Set and communicate yearly tasks and targets for each person in the process support team
Manage the process support team Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and reporting
Demonstrate a personal commitment to continually improve personnel and process safety in the plant
Champion process safety and manage the process safety systems
Support the plant risk register and mitigations management
Provide technical support to Emergency Response Management team
Participate in audits as required by plant management
Willingness to undertake both international and domestic travel for business
Participate in short‑term domestic&international assignments if required during the construction, commissioning and start‑up phases
Available for call‑out during plant/production upsets
Participate in competency assurance and training to further improve plant and personnel
Willing to comply with WLNG’s drug‑free and harassment‑free work environment and comply with all safety policies and procedures
Undergo a pre‑placement medical assessment of fitness for duty, and Pre‑Site Access testing for alcohol and specified drugs
Requirements
A minimum 7–10 years of proven technical competence within the LNG industry
Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or related fields
Fluency in English (written and oral)
Superior knowledge of and experience with commercial liquefaction technologies
Advanced knowledge and working experience in LNG manufacturing process chain, particularly in the areas of inlet feed‑gas pre‑treatment, liquefaction and storage&loading
Skilled in process simulation and unit performance monitoring
Demonstrated experience in supervision of a process engineering team
Knowledge and experience of project interface requirements during construction and commissioning
Proven experience in production and support of an operating liquefaction plant
Experienced in leading plant improvement processes and management
Competent in HAZOP and other technical safety reviews
Experience in management of change systems
Experience in root cause analysis
Communication and interpersonal skills to interact with front‑line workers through to management level
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Passion for building and guiding a small, dedicated process support team
Energetic in the pursuit of continuous improvement processes
Shares knowledge readily and encourages personal development
Takes ownership of deliverables and demonstrates commitment to delivery of tasks and targets
Actively supports peers, including members of other departments
Demonstrates and seeks accountability within the team
A valid driver's license and passport
Benefits
Salary range: $150,000– $180,000 per year
