**POSTING TYPE: Internal** **POSITION TYPE: Term, until return of incumbents** **HOURS OF WORK: Part-time** **SCHEDULES:** 10 to 20 hours per week, as per rotation schedule **DEPARTMENT** **Recreation and Culture** **HOURLY RATE** $32.55 per hour, Schedule “B” Outside Employees, Aquatics **ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS** **EDUCATION** - Grade 12 Diploma or GED **LICENSES / CERTIFICATES** - National Lifeguard Award – Pool - Standard First Aid with CPR “C” - Lifesaving Instructor (LSI) - Aquafit Instructor - AED Certification **EXPERIENCE** - Sound knowledge and/or experience in lifeguarding/instruction duties and teaching methods/group leadership techniques with emphasis on water safety instruction and aquatic skills - Knowledge and/or experience in performing pool operation and maintenance **SPECIFIC SKILLS** - Sound knowledge of theory and practice, lifeguarding, cardiopulmonary resuscitation and first aid - Working knowledge of Pool Chemistry - Ability to prepare facility related records and reports - Ability to work with minimal supervision **SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS** - Initiative, sound judgement, positive and responsive when dealing with the public, user groups and staff - Ability to maintain confidentiality - Inquisitive and ability to ask questions - Effective listener - Police Information Check **CLOSING DATE: 03/25/2026**
