Job Title: Prep Cook/ Assistant Baker, Full-time Permanent Reports to: Retail Supervisor & Food and Beverage Coordinator Compensation: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour, Health Perks Package, 10 days paid holiday with additional 5 days during the annual year-end closure. Hours of work: Full-time, permanent, up to 35 hours weekly. Fort Steele Heritage Town is a living history site dedicated to the preservation, interpretation, and enhancement of British Columbia’s rich heritage. Fort Steele serves as a cultural and educational resource, engaging visitors in the stories, traditions, and historical significance of the Region. Position Summary Fort Steele Heritage Town seeks a dedicated, skilled prep cook to provide assistance in the Bakery experience for our historic site. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing daily bakery production. The ideal candidate will be passionate about food, with an interest in creating a tangible connection to history through food experiences. Position Duties and Responsibilities - Prepare, bake, and present a variety of r baked goods. - Operate, clean, and maintain equipment and tools in accordance with safety and sanitation regulations. - In collaboration with the Food & Beverage Coordinator support special events and activities across the site. - Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment ensuring food safety standards at all times. - Collaborate with the Food and Beverage Coordinator to align bakery offerings with the heritage town's overall theme and visitor experience. Knowledge and Experience - Experience as a prep cook or line cook in a commercial setting an asset - Experience as a baker in a commercial setting an asset - Experience with bread baking and heritage recipes an asset - An understanding of Indigenous relations in this region; additionally, familiarity with the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and the relevant Calls to Action for Museums is an asset. This knowledge can be through education, lived or worked experience. - Food Safe required. Abilities and Skills - Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking skills. - Ability to take on the physical aspects required for the job.
