Position Details Job Title: Kindergarten Teacher (Temporary Part‑Time, 0.5 FTE)
Responsibilities
Design an early learning program that encourages curiosity, self‑expression, communication and problem‑solving.
Work diligently to build a strong rapport with students to create a safe, caring and welcoming learning environment.
Build a relationship with the community by incorporating and celebrating the rich cultural history that the Stavely Community offers.
Understand the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People and integrate Leader in Me in the class.
Be knowledgeable of and have experience in teaching balanced literacy with a sound reading and writing practice (e.g., UFLI).
Be knowledgeable of and have experience in incorporating numeracy skills across the curriculum.
Possess a deep understanding of current outcomes‑based assessment practices.
Utilize a variety of pedagogical approaches based on best practice.
Demonstrate the ability to design innovative, integrated, place‑based units that allow students to develop and use critical‑thinking skills and 21st‑century competencies.
Effectively integrate fine arts and leverage technology across the curriculum.
Support the inclusive education model by ensuring success for students with diverse academic, behavioral, emotional and/or cultural needs within the classroom setting.
Demonstrate a passion for working with an ethnically diverse group of students, including First Nations, Métis and Inuit students.
Be a reflective practitioner who engages in professional learning to grow in areas reflected in the TQS.
Possess strong organizational and classroom‑management skills.
The successful candidate must be in possession of, or eligible for, an Alberta Teaching Certificate. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. This position will commence on August 25, 2026.
Location: Stavely, Alberta. Stavely School is a Leader in Me Lighthouse School, a K‑6 school with approximately 90 students. The staff, families, community and students work together to build a strong school community with outstanding academic and athletic programs.
Teaching days: Monday, Wednesday and every other Friday (with some changes in the weekly schedule to align with special school events).
