Opportunity Highlight Closing Date: June 30, 2026Position Type: Non Permanent Compensation: Instructor I ($24.45 - $28.35) Instructor II ($28.35 - $32.88)Work Location: On-site We have an exciting opportunity for highly motivated Instructors I & II (Skating) to join our Recreation & Programs team. Reporting to the Programs Team Leader, this role is responsible for: - Planning and delivery of skating classes and hockey lessons while ensuring the safety, well-being and enjoyment of participants using progressive instruction techniques to support development; - Teaching specific skills to participants through progressive physical fitness development and sharing of knowledge; - Planning and implementing quality programs; - Assessing participant needs and providing adaptations as necessary; - Delivering secure, engaging, and high-quality skating instruction that supports skill development, confidence, and enjoyment for participants of all ages and abilities; - Maintaining program records and assisting with program evaluation; - Attending regular training sessions including Emergency Response Training Opportunity Details Job Posting ID 1826NP Hours of Work 20 hours/wk Number of Openings 10 Standby Rotation Required No Driver's Abstract Required No Police Record Check Required Yes, including vulnerable sector What we offer - Career development - Competitive salary - Flexible work schedule What you Bring Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is current fitness instructor certification from Alberta Fitness or equivalent certification/training and experience specific to skating, as well as: - A High School Diploma - A minimum of one or more years direct/indirect related work experience representing continuous learning; - Previous experience teaching or instructing skating or similar recreation programs is an asset; - Experience working with children, youth, or beginner learners preferred; - Current First Aid certification; - Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays; - Ability to work in an indoor ice arena environment; - Demonstrated ability in assessing participant needs and determining adaptations as necessary; - High degree of customer service; - Strong communication skills along with demonstrated initiative, planning, and organizational skills; - Sound judgement in safety standards and well-developed customer service skills Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) is essential to achieving the Town of Okotoks’ strategic plan.
