The Controller is the Business Partner on the Market Leadership Team, assisting in the development and implementation of market area objectives and strategies and ensuring effective control in the financial management reporting systems. The role coordinates and prepares accurate monthly reports, forecasts, budgets, capital and other financial information, ensuring accurate financial reporting and improving understanding of key business drivers to maximize results within the product line. Identification and implementation of best practices are also key components of this role. Responsibilities - Manage plant accounting and reporting functions, including preparation of management presentations and financial statements. - Interpret financial data and events, providing analysis and actionable recommendations to support decision-making. - Maintain robust financial and accounting controls, ensuring accurate reconciliation of asset and liability accounts. - Lead budgeting and forecasting processes, working closely with business partners to align financial plans with operational goals. - Collaborate with plant management and Service Centers to drive alignment and achieve finance objectives. - Develop and review strategic and business plans (MTP), contributing to long‑term planning and performance management. - Oversee compliance with company policies and procedures, ensuring consistent application across all financial activities. - Manage inventory controls, including monthly balance reviews and reconciliation of physical counts to system records. - Act as a change agent for continuous improvement, driving enhancements in financial processes and systems. - Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Qualifications - Education: University degree; preferred fields of study are Accounting, Finance, or Business. - Work Experience: At least five years of financial management experience with increasing responsibility and complex roles. - Certifications: Qualified accounting designation (CPA) or equivalent education and experience, with continuing professional education. - Technical Skills: MS Office, Google Suite, and SAP. - Travel Requirements: Regular travel between Calgary and the Exshaw plant. - Additional: Knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP; demonstrated financial/business analysis and cost control skills; detailed knowledge of Amrize plant operations; excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills; strong ability to influence with and without authority. - Safety: Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved personal protective equipment (PPE). Employees required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face to pass fit tests.
