E m p l o y m e n t O p p o r t u n i t y Service Area: Healing Lodge Location: Siksika Nation Salary: Based on Education and Experience Date Posted: April 27, 2026 Closing Date: Until position is filled Competition Number: IHLC-01-04-27-26 POSITION SUMMARY: The Security Guard helps maintain a secure, welcoming, and well-monitored environment across SIHLRC through overnight and weekend security coverage. This role supports access control, patrols, incident response, and respectful interaction with relatives, staff, and visitors. The position applies clear boundaries, sound judgment, and trauma- informed de-escalation practice in a recovery-oriented setting. Applicants must demonstrate clear alignment with SIHLRC’s vision, mission, values, and recovery-oriented approach, including Siksikaitsitapi teachings, Blackfoot cultural values, trauma‑informed practice, harm reduction, and Recovery- Oriented Systems of Care (ROSC) DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Duties include but are not limited to: 1. Monitor entries, exits, common areas, and designated security zones during assigned shifts. 2. Conduct patrols and routine safety checks across SIHLRC spaces. 3. Respond to incidents, disturbances, and urgent concerns using de-escalation and professional judgment. 4. Maintain security logs, incident reports, and shift handoff communication. 5. Support visitor management, access procedures, and restricted-area controls. 6. Coordinate with leadership and external responders when emergencies arise. 7. Maintain a respectful presence that supports safety without stigmatizing relatives. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities • Knowledge of site patrol, access control, observation, and incident documentation. - Ability to respond calmly and effectively in dynamic situations. - Skill in trauma-informed de-escalation and respectful communication. - Ability to work overnight and weekend shifts reliably. - Ability to maintain professional boundaries, confidentiality, and situational awareness. Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent experience in security and site safety roles. Experience in security, residential care, healthcare, or community-based environments is preferred. Professional Designation/Certification/Licenses: Alberta security guard licence, or ability to obtain and maintain it. First Aid/CPR certification, or willingness to obtain within a specified timeframe. Clear Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check prior to employment. Other: Requires general knowledge of the Siksika Nation culture and some ability to communicate in the Siksika language.
