Civil Project Engineer - Land Development Huntsville, ON Full‑time Greystone Project Management is Muskoka’s premier builder of Industrial, Commercial, Multi-Residential and Institutional buildings. Established in April 1995 in Huntsville, Ontario. We are seeking a Civil Project Engineer to join our growing team, undertaking civil design work for both internal construction projects and external clients. This is a project manager‑equivalent role requiring independent judgement, strong client and agency communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple files concurrently. Position Summary The Civil Project Engineer is responsible for the civil design of development projects, including water and sanitary servicing, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control (ESC), and site grading. The role involves active engagement with municipalities, conservation authorities, and provincial agencies throughout the planning and approvals process, as well as coordination of site plan and planning applications. The role will also include quantification of earthworks and sitework activities and costs, and support with estimating, procurement and budget tracking. Responsibilities - Prepare civil design drawings and reports for internal development projects and external clients, including water and sanitary servicing, stormwater management, and erosion and sediment control plans. - Lead and manage concurrent planning and site plan applications from initial submission through to approval, implementation and construction. - Develop stormwater management designs and associated reports; apply stormwater modelling tools (Visual OTTHYMO or equivalent) to support regulatory submissions. - Review and interpret zoning by-laws, Official Plans, and other municipal planning documents to inform design decisions. - Prepare and review site plans in accordance with typical municipal site plan requirements and applicable standards. - Liaise directly with municipal planning and engineering staff, conservation authorities (CAs), MNR, MTO, and DFO throughout the review and approval process, as required. - Prepare technical agency submissions and respond to agency and municipality comments in a professional and timely manner. - Coordinate with surveyors, geotechnical engineers, environmental consultants, and other project team members to advance file progress. - Review and interpret engineering and planning drawings, site plans, grading plans, and servicing layouts. - Support internal construction teams with site servicing design, field queries, and design changes as required. - Maintain thorough project files, correspondence records, and application tracking documentation. - Represent the company professionally in all interactions with clients, municipalities, agencies, and consultants. Qualifications - Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related discipline. - Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.), Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.), or equivalent designation – or demonstrated ability and intention to obtain licensure. - Minimum 3–5+ years of experience in civil engineering design, land development, or site servicing, including preparation of engineering drawings and regulatory submissions. - Demonstrated experience with water/sanitary servicing design, stormwater management design, and erosion and sediment control planning. - Experience with stormwater modelling, specifically Visual OTTHYMO, is a strong asset. - Familiarity with site plan approval processes, zoning by-laws, and Official Plans in an Ontario municipal context. - Working knowledge of provincial agency requirements and submission processes for MNR (MNRF), MTO, and DFO is an asset. - Proven ability to communicate clearly and professionally with municipal planning and engineering departments, conservation authorities, and other regulatory agencies. - Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or equivalent civil design software. - Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent files and deadlines independently. - Valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation.
