Kennel Assistant (Huntsville)

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated Kennel Assistant to join our team at a busy animal care facility. The ideal candidate will be passionate about animals, reliable, and eager to contribute to the well-being of our furry clients. This role involves providing excellent care and maintaining a clean and safe workplace for pets and staff alike. Prior experience is not required but a positive attitude and willingness to learn are essential. Duties - Assist with daily cleaning and sanitation of kennels, cages, and common areas to ensure a hygienic environment. - Feed and water animals according to established schedules and protocols. - Monitor animals for signs of illness or distress and report concerns to veterinary staff or supervisors. - Provide gentle handling and socialization to animals to promote comfort and reduce stress. - Assist with exercise routines, including walking or playing with animals as needed. - Maintain accurate records of animal care activities and any observations. - Support team members with inventory management, including stocking supplies and cleaning equipment. Skills - Strong customer service skills to interact professionally with pet owners and visitors. - Ability to perform heavy lifting safely, such as moving cages, supplies, or animals. - Excellent communication skills and attention to detail. - Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. - Compassionate attitude towards animals and understanding of their needs. - Physical stamina for long periods of standing, bending, and lifting throughout the shift.
