Process Engineer (polymers/plastics) (Oshawa)

Position: Process engineer (polymers/plastics) Salary: $80,000 – $95,000/year Location: Oshawa, ON Industry: Plastics Manufacturing Type: Full-Time, Permanent This role will focus on improving process stability, reducing scrap and downtime, optimizing production efficiency, and supporting overall product quality. The position works closely with Operations, Quality, Maintenance, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives and resolve ongoing process challenges. Key Responsibilities - Analyze production and quality data to identify root causes of defects, scrap, downtime, and process variation - Optimize blown film extrusion process parameters and operating procedures - Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on waste reduction, gauge control, yield improvement, and line efficiency - Support material trials, tooling changes, process validations, and new product introductions - Troubleshoot recurring process and equipment-related issues - Work with suppliers and OEMs to improve tooling and equipment performance - Support operator training and process documentation including work instructions and control plans Qualifications - 3–7 years of experience within blown film extrusion, plastics manufacturing, flexible packaging, or process engineering - Post-secondary education in Engineering, Plastics Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Polymer Science, or related technical discipline - Strong knowledge of blown film processes including resin handling, melt extrusion, bubble stability, gauge control, and winding - Experience working with LLDPE, LDPE, and HDPE materials - Hands-on experience with extrusion tooling and equipment including dies, air rings, IBC systems, screws/barrels, screen changers, and gauging systems - Experience applying Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies - Solid troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills Pay: $80,000.00-$95,000.00 per year Work Location: In person Apply on Kit Job: kitjob.ca/job/2na6nb
