Description
Chemical/Mechanical Engineer with Electrochemical Experience – Water Treatment Technologies Current Water Technologies Inc. About Us Current Water Technologies Inc. is an innovative environmental technology company specializing in electrochemical water treatment solutions for industrial and municipal applications. The company develops and commercializes proprietary technologies, including: AmmEL™ – an electrochemical ammonia removal system that converts ammonia directly to nitrogen and hydrogen gas without producing harmful byproducts ESD™ (Electro-Static Deionization) – a super capacity technology for removing dissolved solids from water for the production of ultrapure water. Our mission is to deliver sustainable, energy-efficient, and chemical-free water treatment technologies to address global water and environmental challenges. Position Overview We are seeking a highly motivated Chemical/Mechanical Engineer to join our R&D; and engineering team in Guelph, Ontario. The successful candidate will play a key role in the design, fabrication, testing, and optimization of electrolyzers and electrochemical wastewater treatment systems. This is a hands‑on, multidisciplinary role at the intersection of electrochemistry, chemical engineering, environmental engineering, and process design. Key Responsibilities Design and optimize electrochemical systems (electrolyzers) for water and wastewater treatment. Prepare and interpret: Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs;), and mechanical and fabrication drawings. Create engineering designs and layouts using AutoCAD and SolidWorks. Conduct laboratory and pilot‑scale experiments involving: Ammonia oxidation, electro‑static deionization for the production of high‑purity water, and other water treatment technologies, including but not limited to, coagulation/flocculation, filtration, ion exchange, thermal stripping, etc. Analyze system performance (e.g., contaminant removal efficiency, current efficiency, Faradaic efficiency, mass transfer, kinetics). Develop and validate electrode materials and configurations. Support scale‑up from lab to pilot and commercial systems. Collaborate within the engineering team on process design, controls, and automation. Prepare technical reports. Assist with field trials and provide clients with technical support. Required Qualifications University degree in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, environmental engineering, or related field. Minimum 3 years of industrial experience in Preparing PFDs, P&IDs;, fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, and 3D CAD models using AutoCAD and SolidWorks. Electrolyzer design and fabrication. Water or wastewater treatment systems. Strong background in electrochemical systems (e.g., electrolysis, supercapacitors). Hands‑on experience with lab‑scale and pilot‑scale experimental setups. Knowledge of water/wastewater treatment processes. Preferred Qualifications Experience with hydrogen production through electrolysis systems. Familiarity with water treatment systems such as filtration, ion exchange, thermal stripping. Experience with manufacturing processes and industrial equipment assembly. PLC programming. Professional Engineering (P.Eng.) eligibility in Ontario. What We Offer Prospect to work on cutting‑edge electrochemical technologies. Direct impact on sustainable water and energy solutions. Career growth in a rapidly evolving clean technology sector. #J-18808-Ljbffr Apply on Kit Job: kitjob.ca/job/2nm2ue
