Product & Design Engineer - Learners (Oshawa)
Description
Product & Design Engineer Part-time (~50% to start) Remote (Canada preferred, US for the right candidate) About us Learners is the premier community for UX Researchers. We’ve been hosting community learning events for years, including Research Week, which is the largest gathering of UX Researchers on the planet. We have an engaged community of tens of thousands of researchers who have attended an event, and now we’re building something new. Learners is building a membership platform where researchers connect, learn from each other, and build their community. We're small, scrappy, and team-oriented. We run on good vibes. We’ve proven the model through our events, and we’re moving fast to extend it to new digital products and services. Our devotion to the community and the power of connection drives everything we do. The role We’re looking for a part-time product builder, with the potential for the role to become full-time. You'd be the third person working on product, alongside our CPO and founding designer. We’re looking for someone with an engineering foundation, and a strong sensibility for UX and product. Technical depth is less important than user obsession, growth mindset, and the ability to iterate quickly with AI to develop something truly high quality. You'll work with the team to ship features end to end — design, build, deploy, learn, iterate. We have a strong design and product sensibility. Our challenge is to develop products that are great, which express the Learners brand, and are a win for everyone in our community. It’s software + vibes, and we’re looking for someone who’s just as into that as we are. What you'd actually do - Collaborate with product, design, and our founders to bring our new membership products to life. - Build features in our Next.js / Supabase stack, mostly with AI coding tools as your daily driver. - Listen to users. Understand them. Be wrong about the thing. Improve the thing. Forever. - Sketch, prototype, and design as you go — in Figma or in code, depending on what’s needed. - Make small product calls without waiting for a meeting; bring the bigger ones to the table. - Help us figure out what good looks like for this company as it grows. Who we're looking for - 2–5 years of experience. New grad is fine; a few years of shipping things is also fine. We care more about how you think than what's on your resume. - You write code and you care deeply about UX design and product thinking. You're fluent with AI tools. Pure engineers need not apply. - You're obsessively user-centered. You notice the small stuff that makes an experience magical. You sweat the details other people don't. - You care a lot about brand and feel and how it’s expressed in products. - You're a clear, direct communicator. You say what you mean. You ask when you don't know. - You take a spec and quickly, independently iterate on it through pixels or code. We’re learning by doing. - You’re a humble learner. Feedback, critique, and discussion are some of your love languages. - You don't need to know anything about UX research as a field. We'll teach you what matters. Stack Next.js, TypeScript, Supabase, Vercel, Tailwind, Figma, Claude Code. We're not religious about any of it but we’re not starting from scratch either. Salary $80k–$130k USD This range reflects the full-time equivalent for a role we expect to start at ~50% time. The wide range reflects experience level (2–5 years) and variance in localized salaries (e.g. Canada vs US). Final offer depends on experience and location. How to apply Send us something real — a project you're proud of, a thing you built that didn't have to exist, a screen recording of you sharing something amazing. A traditional resume is good too. But mainly, find a way to show us you can work the way we’ve described above – the Learners Way. Send your best shot to . Apply on Kit Job: kitjob.ca/job/2oyeyn
