Position Overview Reporting to the responsible General Superintendent– Mechanical, this role will support work within the Mechanical work stream, including key nuclear steam supply components on the turbine side such as stator, turbine, condenser, and generator. During the readiness phase the Superintendent will assist in construction planning, reviews, and fit‑for‑purpose tool development. In execution they will be responsible for the supervision, coordination and scheduling of construction activities for multiple scopes of work in compliance with the contract and the job cost estimate, ensuring all work is completed safely to acceptable standards of quality and workmanship.

Location The position will be based on our project in Darlington, ON. The successful candidate will be local to Darlington, Oshawa, or surrounding areas, or willing to relocate. We may relocate teams based on project needs and team members’ career goals.

Responsibilities

Accountable for work planning and execution on the project, including methods of construction, manpower levels, materials, tools, equipment, rentals, and work schedules.

Ensure alignment and partnership with alliance partners.

Monitor and review Plans/Schedules and identify risks and issues.

Utilize project master schedule to create detailed look‑ahead schedules for General Foreman.

Implement and enforce safety, quality, and human performance programs.

Ensure policies and project procedures are being adhered to by project personnel.

Monitor and manage risks, develop recovery strategies when project schedule or budget is jeopardised.

Assume responsibility for productivity of direct‑hire trade labour and subcontractors, efficient use of materials and tools, and contractual performance.

Understand and support applicable trade agreements.

Apply company discipline policies and appropriately escalated performance concerns to Construction Manager.

Ensure trades personnel complete all necessary training in safety, quality assurance, technical qualifications, equipment operation, and owner‑specified requirements.

Support creation of Construction Work Packages.

Ensure project construction complies with drawings, specifications, Work Packages, schedule, and budget.

Interface with client representatives, design engineers, consultants, other contractors, etc.

Ensure project construction follows QA programs and project quality standards.

Other duties as required or assigned.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

Perform regular field tours to check work progress and meet with project site personnel.

Carry out site safety inspections.

Participate in company‑wide initiatives aimed at continuous improvement.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Review and approve timesheets, expense reports, vacation requests, and training requests within limits of authority.

Manage performance of all direct‑report employees, including coaching, mentoring, career planning, and preparation of yearly and mid‑year performance reviews.

Ensure all project staff and direct reports understand and comply with applicable code of conduct policies.

Qualifications

Minimum of 7 years Mechanical construction and subcontractor supervision experience.

3 years reactor refurbishments and assembly experience is an asset.

Knowledge of all aspects of construction including technology, equipment, methods, trade agreements, jurisdiction, engineering, cost control, scheduling, and safety requirements.

Ability to support a positive Nuclear Safety Culture.

Ability to plan and manage installation sequences, coordinate with engineering for constructability, and communicate updates to project teams and vendors.

Experience managing complex nuclear construction projects.

Ability to read and understand construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications.

Full appreciation of the importance of Quality Assurance Programs and their significance to the nuclear industry.

Work during normal operating hours to organise and complete work within given deadlines; work overtime and weekends as required.

May work at various different locations and conditions may vary.

Base Compensation: $155,000/yr– $165,000/yr (Actual compensation is subject to variation due to factors such as education, experience, skillset, and/or location).
