Accounting Manager Company: Halenda’s Fine Foods Ltd. & The Meat Depot Job Type: Full-Time | Permanent | On-Site Location: 915 Nelson Street, Oshawa, Ontario Salary Range: $70,000 – $80,000 annually Position Overview Halenda’s Fine Foods Ltd. and The Meat Depot are seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented, and experienced Accounting Manager to join our growing team. This is an in office position based in Oshawa, Ontario. The successful candidate will possess strong financial accounting expertise, leadership capabilities, and the ability to support strategic business operations through accurate financial reporting, budgeting, and analysis. The ideal candidate will play a key role in overseeing accounting functions, ensuring compliance with internal controls, supporting month-end and year-end activities, and providing financial insights to management. Key Responsibilities 1. Accounting Team Leadership - Oversee and supervise the day-to-day operations of the accounting team, providing coaching, mentorship, and support. - Ensure all accounts payable, accounts receivable, and all other accounting entries are properly recorded. - Develop, maintain, and strengthen internal accounting controls and recommend process improvements - Review team members' work to verify accuracy and compliance. 2. Financial Reporting & Analysis - Lead the month-end and year-end close processes. - Prepare accurate, timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports. - Analyze financial data and trial balances to identify errors, discrepancies, or opportunities for cost savings. - Prepare company budgets and support financial forecasting activities - Provide financial analysis and support to other departments within the organization. Qualifications & Requirements - Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from a recognized four-year university program. - Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience. - Strong understanding of financial accounting principles, budgeting, internal controls, and financial reporting. - Experience preparing and analyzing financial statements. - Strong report-writing and business communication skills. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Excel. - Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy. - Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. - Demonstrated leadership and team management capabilities. - Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Preferred Skills - Experience in food manufacturing, retail, wholesale, or distribution industries is considered an asset. - Knowledge of ERP systems and accounting software is preferred. - Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
