The Community Navigation of Eastern Ontario (CNEO) is a non-profit, bilingual organization that helps to connect people through multilingual mediated access to community, social, health and government services in their community. CNEO has been operating 211 Services in Eastern Ontario since 2008, and is a partner in the Alternative Neighbourhood Response Service (ANCHOR) as of 2024. We are presently looking for someone in the role of Bilingual Database Curator. This candidate would report to the database coordinator. This is a full-time contract position of 35 hours per week starting in June 2026 and ending March 31st, 2027. Job Summary: The Bilingual Database Curator is responsible for creating, updating, and maintaining database data records in accordance with current data standards. The Bilingual Database Curator is also responsible for translation of records (both English to French and French to English) and ensuring consistency, clarity, and accuracy within the database; and organize, summarize, and classifies information on government, non-profit, and select for-profit organizations for entry into the resource database. QUALIFICATIONS Education: - Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma in a related field required Experience/Skills: - Minimum three years’ experience data maintenance, or relevant field - Excellent written skills in English and French - Knowledge of data entry and database management - Knowledge of computer systems - Knowledge of the non-profit sector and human services systems Job Duties: - Inputs data received from various organizations or agencies so that the database remains current, accurate and adheres to professional standards - Translates bilingual database record information (mostly English to French, with some French to English) - Edits and translates general English and French content, including website content, social media posts, and other pieces of written communications as required - Liaises with agencies to gather and verify record information including programs offered, areas served and all other pertinent details - Researches new services or programs and record creation for the database - Learns and applies complex data standards to all entries within the database - Builds relationships with various organizations via telephone - Conducts quality control of database records - Produces customized data resources for specialized services and assists with production of the Directories, Maps, and other specialized listings - Assists in working with agencies who are leasing our database and/or using customized databases - Performs general administrative duties as required - Completes various tasks to facilitate the work of the ANCHOR project The above duties reflect the general details considered necessary to complete the job and are not a detailed description of all the work requirements that might be inherent in the job. Please send your request to HR through Indeed messages. HOURS OF WORK AND OTHER CONSIDERATIONS - Work is normally performed in a standard office or remotely. A hybrid model is currently in place (minimum two days per week in office). - Daytime office hours are Monday to Friday between 6 am-8 pm; actual work hours are flexible and can be discussed with management upon hiring - May require work in evening or weekend hours, especially in times of emergency CNEO's Hiring Process - Selection of resumes: When a vacancy opens at CNEO, a posting will be added on Indeed and other job search sites. The Director of Operations or delegate will read through applications using a first come-first served approach until enough candidates have been retained for for following step. - Introduction: An introductory message will be sent to candidates to highlight specific requirements of the role and to confirm that the candidate is being retained. - Telephone Screening: A telephone screening call will be scheduled to evaluate spoken levels of English and French will be scheduled at that point. The screening will include information sharing about CNEO and the role, and will require candidates to tell us about themselves by answering a few short questions. This is a 15 minute call. - Interview / written test: Candidates who succeed in the Telephone Screening part of the process will be invited to an in-person interview followed by a written test. - Reference Check: Candidates who are successful in the Interview/Test portion of the process will be informed that we are proceeding to a reference check. - Job offer: Following a successful reference check, CNEO will extend an offer of employment to the appropriate candidate. - AI is not used at any level of the hiring process.
