About the Role Reporting to the Vice President, Quality and Chief Nursing Executive, the Director, Childbirth and Professional Practice advances professional and interprofessional practice at QCH and shapes how care is delivered across the organization. The portfolio includes Childbirth Services, Special Care Nursery, Nursing Skilled Practice, and Accreditation, along with oversight of Infection Prevention and Control and Clinical Risk Management. Portfolios may evolve based on organizational priorities and the strengths and experience of the successful candidate. At an organizational level, the Director defines practice standards, guides clinical education, and builds the capability required for teams to deliver consistent, high-performing care. A key focus is strengthening a learning environment where development is embedded in practice. The Director leads the evolution of learning strategies and supports the adoption of evidence-informed and innovative practice models that respond to changing care needs. Working closely with clinical leaders, physicians, and system partners, the Director aligns practice, learning, and improvement efforts to ensure care is coordinated, responsive, and centered on patients and families. Experience & Education QCH is seeking a respected and forward-looking clinical leader with a strong foundation in professional practice and the ability to advance care through innovation, learning, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate holds a Master’s degree in a relevant health or business discipline and brings 5+ years of progressive acute care leadership experience, with a track record of strengthening practice environments, advancing accreditation readiness, and supporting clinical excellence. A proven innovator, this leader advances evidence-informed practice and introduces new models of care that respond to evolving patient and system needs. They bring a strong understanding of clinical education, professional standards, and regulatory requirements, and translate these into practical, sustainable approaches that support consistent care delivery.
