Senior Geotechnical Engineer & Branch Manager (Ottawa)

The Opportunity: DS is currently seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer & Branch Manager to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for candidates looking to further develop their career. Key Responsibilities: - Manage the day‑to‑day operations and overall management of DS’s office. - Responsible for marketing and client liaison. - Recruitment and hiring of strategic staff. - Proposal preparation, budgeting, and client development. - Plan, manage, and execute projects and those of staff reporting to you to ensure effective deployment of staff and resources to achieve DS objectives. - Prepare and oversee proposals on behalf of project managers, liaise with client and initiate projects in line with DS standards. - Supervise and mentor intermediate and senior engineers to enhance their capabilities. - Supervise and manage the office and train junior staff. - Ensure health and safety policies are followed at all sites. Key Qualifications, Skills & Education: - University degree in Civil Engineering or Bachelor of Science from a recognized institution. - Registered and practicing Professional Engineer in Ontario. - 8 to 10 years of experience in the geotechnical, materials testing, and construction industry. - Solid project management, client management, and business development skills. - Proven leadership and team‑building experience. - Prior experience with running a branch office or division is preferred. - Ability to travel between DS offices and sites within Ontario. - Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills in English. - Organized, works well under pressure and able to multi‑task. - Must own a vehicle with insurance coverage and hold a valid G‑Level Ontario Driver’s License. - Flexible to work on a wide variety of projects, tasks, and assignments, responding easily to changing priorities.
