Machine Operator (Day shift) (Ottawa)

Join a team of passionate builders! AGF is seeking a Machine Operator for the day shift at our plant in Ottawa (3419, Hawthorne Road, Ottawa, ON K1G 4G2). Bend, cut, and bundle steel bars using automatic, semi-automatic, and manual machinery, and see your work come to life in major construction projects! Since 1948, AGF has played a key role in the supply and installation of reinforcing steel, with over 50,000 projects completed across the country and beyond. We’ve contributed to major construction projects such as the Canadian Tire Centre, the Ottawa light-rail transit, the General Hospital, and the Canadian War Museum. About the Role - Your main responsibilities will include: - Review detailers' drawings to make sure there are no errors and that they comply with Canadian and government standards; - Releasing bar lists for the manufacturing of reinforcing steel with specified lengths, diameters, and bending requirements; - Produce placing drawings according to Structural Drawings; - Schedule and plan in office delivery of rebar; - Drafting RFIs for the Project Manager to send to clients; - Suggesting and implementing technical solutions to improve site and project outcomes; - Monitoring the drawing submission schedule in accordance with the project timeline; - Communicate regularly with Project Managers. About You - The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience: - A degree or diploma in technical engineering, architecture, or building design; - 1–3 years of professional experience in rebar detailing; - Proficiency in design and drafting using AutoCAD; - Strong organizational and multitasking skills; - Ability to read and comprehend technical drawings; - Capacity to work under pressure and strong problem-solving skills. #P1 AGF is committed to diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
