Maintenance Planner (Mechanical)
role where you develop work packages, identify scope, and ensure jobs are executed with precision and accuracy? Do you enjoy working with multiple teams, solving complex problems, and ensuring everything is in place before work begins? If you answered yes, then this may be the job for you!
Responsibilities
Preparing assessment work packages (Job Cards, IWP’s, DWP’s) in accordance with established procedures.
Interfacing with customers to identify the full scope of work and required outcomes.
Visiting job sites and estimating work content for various trades.
Identifying workplace hazards and ensuring appropriate controls are included in planning.
Determining materials, special tooling, and support requirements for assigned work.
Coordinating with engineering and support groups for design input, drawings, and evaluations.
Identifying required procedures, manuals, and documentation needed for work plans.
Preparing detailed work plans that outline job steps, materials, and execution strategy.
Supporting procurement activities, including estimating and requisitioning materials and equipment.
Monitoring and expediting material delivery timelines to support scheduling requirements.
Coordinating with Planning Coordinators to ensure work is scheduled based on accurate information.
Other duties as assigned by your manager.
Qualifications Education
Successful completion of a recognized apprenticeship in a relevant industrial trade with a minimum of 2 years of related experience; OR
Graduation from an Institute of Technology (or equivalent) with a minimum of 6 years of experience in industrial maintenance or construction.
Experience
Experience in industrial maintenance, construction, or work management planning environments.
Knowledge, Skills&Abilities
Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to develop practical and effective solutions.
Ability to communicate effectively with technical teams, supervisors, and cross‑functional stakeholders.
Knowledge of applicable codes and standards, including ASME, Canadian piping and pressure vessel codes, and building systems.
Demonstrated understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and construction regulations.
Experience in identifying hazards and incorporating safety requirements into work planning.
Working knowledge of maintenance management and work management systems.
Skilled in software such as MS Word, Excel, and email tools.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in planning and documentation.
Ability to provide constructive feedback and collaborate to resolve planning and scheduling conflicts.
Security Clearance Eligibility Required
Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3‑5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat’s “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
Working Conditions
Working schedule: Four (4) days per week, ten (10) hours per day for a forty (40) hour work week.
